On 15 April 2021, an online meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation was held with the participation of deputies of the House of Representatives Tengiz Dumbadze and Valentina Razhanets.

Belarusian parliamentarian Tengiz Dumbadze was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Commission. He presented to the members of the Commission the Concept of the Belarus’ CIS Chairmanship in 2021. «I think it is symbolic that the Republic of Belarus, which was at the origins of the Commonwealth, presides over the CIS in the year of its 30^thanniversary» said Tengiz Dumbadze.

It was also noted that the Belarusian chairmanship will pay special attention to achieving the effect of cooperation between the CIS Member States in various integration associations and organizations (EAEU, CSTO, SCO). Work will be continued to agree on approaches to further adaptation of the activities of the Commonwealth bodies, forms and methods of their work to modern realities.

In addition, the Commission reviewed the preparations for the World Conference on Interreligious and Inter-ethnic Dialogue, planned to be held by the Inter-Parliamentary Union with the support and under the auspices of the UN in May 2022 in Russia.

The sides analysed the results of the sessions of the international parliamentary organizations (PACE, OSCE PA) and coordination of the parliamentary delegations of the CIS Member States in the work of these organizations and noted the importance of continuing and improving the quality of international cooperation.
